Re: Can I eliminate hatch
Posted by George K on Sep 16, 2007
When I built my WR 18 a few years back I didn't want to put in a forward hatch because of the veneer work on the deck. I live in Florida where the boat is subjected to pretty drastic temperature changes so at Lee G's recommendation I put a 1/16" hole in the top of the bulkhead and a Beckson inspection port which I leave open when the boat isn't in the water, just as you would leave a hatch off. The only advice I would give is to put in the inspection port before the deck is put on. Cutting the hole would be much easier.
