Slat seat issues.
Posted by Jeff on Sep 19, 2007
Hello, I have made 2 slat seats for the MC16.5 out of Russian Birch. They look great, but when I sat in them for the first time, they made some cracking sounds. After further investigation, it appears that some of the thickened epoxy (with cab'o'sil) I used to glue the slats to the frame have separated/cracked. I am contemplating using some left over 4 oz glass to ensure that the slat to seat joint is secure. Anyone had this issue before, or did I use the wrong glue? Do you normally epoxy the whole seat? I was thinking of just using varnish. Any thoughts would be helpful.
Thanks, Jeff
