I built a Sass 16 (from plans), and I can absolutely recommend a Sass 12 as a project for doing with the kids (although I'd keep them away from most of the epoxy-work...). Tieing all the planks together with wire, and watching it pop into shape, is magic! Simple, and full of rewqarding mile-stone steps. Do it!
