What about polyester fillers? This is actually what I use for scratches deep enough that need more than paint. I am not talking about anything into the cloth or wood, where I would probably fill with epoxy. Just cosmetic scratches that paint alone would not hide. I would think that would be very similar to what Larry is describing and would do just fine under a coat of paint. (I guess I am also asking whether this is NOT a good idea for me or for Larry, and if not then why?, because I thought this product was similar to Bondo).
