I'm interested in this, too. My nieces just moved back to town; they're 3.5 and 2.5. By next summer I think the older one will be ready to try out a little boat, and I've been trying to make some decisions about building one for her. Right now I'm leaning toward the Rising Star, which I would probably build out of doorskin. I'd love to "do it right," but I just can't afford another build like that right now. I'm hoping that being willing to compromise on quality to a certain degree will allow me to make a functional boat that will last long enough for the girls to decide whether or not they like paddling.
