The only place I am concerned about is the underside of the foredeck. I can probably reach under the after deck through the hatch. However, there is no forward hatch on the PAX 18; only a 4 inch inspection plate on the bulkhead at the forward end of the cockpit. Once the deck is on, getting additional epoxy into the forward end is a problem.
Yes, the race is on a river. The weight is more important on the portages than while paddling. Agree the current is important.
