It may be a bit of a drive for you, but there are a couple of camp-worthy rivers in Warton State Forest of Southern New Jersey. I did trips on both many years ago in rented canoes. They are narrow, twisty, and slow moving rivers (good for an MC i'd think, maybe less so with a full-on touring boat like a CH). An occasional downed tree is possible, but the canoe rental companies seem to do a decent job of keeping them to a minimum. The closest you'll get to whitewater is crossing over the occasional beaver damn (very little real elevation change).
