I don't think one is easier than the other; just different. Certainly the strip deck takes longer. If you do something extravagant, like John Beck's award-winning Shearwater, you can rack up the hours. The one we built for the instruction manual was ultra-simple and took less time than we thought. We were keeping track and it only added about 20 hours to the project.
