I'm at the point in my wherry build when I need to fill the weave of the fibreglass on the inside of the hull; do I need to fill the weave where the bottom of the boat will be concealed by the decks? Does one fill the weave simply to smooth out the rough fibreglass and expoxy layer to render it more attractive (and more comfortable) or does this improve strength and/or water tightness? Thanks.

If the cloth is well-saturated with resin, and there are no pinholes or voids, filling the weave with extra resin will just add weight. -Wes
