I have a 45sf snark sail and a mast and I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried to put a lateen rig onto a skerry. Anxious to get in the water and trying to save money.
Thoughts?

RE: Lateen sail on a skerry?
My suggestion would be to also find the geometric Center of Effort (CE) for each sail plan (on scale drawings), and see if it's feasible to set up your Snark rig in the boat so that its CE is at the same fore and aft location as the CE of the CLC sail plan.
If you can get that close, it should perform well, with the desired slight amount of weather helm. If you cannot get it close, you will have either lee helm (which is bad) if your CE is too far forward, or too much weather helm if your CE is too far aft.

Assuming your rig will fit in the mast step/partners, there's no reason why it shouldn't work. You might check and see if there's enough room for you to get under the boom, too, before you head out on the water.
Good luck!
