Your question suggests you may be new to kayak building. If so, you might want to consider a less challenging design than the NH. Material quantities are specified in the plan package. There are also formulas for calculating materials in Nick Schade's books, which you should definitely read before tackling a strip-built boat. -Wes

I am reading his book currently, watching all the videos and reading the very good posts from this form.  Yes, I am new to the strip-planked style of kayak building, but love a challenge.  I bought the plans only and starting from scratch(with no issues thus far).  While waiting for a reply, I found the formula for calculating the wood needed.  Thanks- Mike P
