I started my project in august 2009 and now finely i am finished and pleased.....
First i have to converted all the measurment from " to mm, then i draw all the project in Autocad.
I worked on the boat on and off, whenever I had the time and the ambition. I went on a few big benders when I became obsessed with the kayak and thought of little else. Overall, it was really an enjoyable project.
Look at my pictures of my Chesapeke 17 at Flicker: http://www.flickr.com/photos/olta68/
Is it true everything that is written on Chesapeake 17??
I have not paddled it, I' will paddle it next week ....very excited

Brilliant job Ole! I love the clean look of the deck rigging and hatch straps. You cut slots through the deck to accept the webbing? How is the webbing anchored on the underside of the deck?

Thanks Ole. Any other clever deviations you made from the plans?

Hi Old Yeller
I build my kayak with flush hatches :http://www.clcboats.com/shoptips/epoxy_and_fiberglass/hatches_no_toggles.html
Found it was nicer this way ;-)

The flush hatches look beautiful. The straps are for extra security then, and to lash items on top?

Yes they are for extra security, and if you like extra lash on top ;-)
Good luck!

Ole,
Beautiful pictures of a very nice boat. You seem to be a photographer, as well as a boatbuilder.
If you ever have to build from US plans again, consider just buying a US measuring tape. Much easier than manually converting and redrawing. I've done that with metric plans and it works well.
Have fun with your lovely new boat,
Laszlo
