Sliding seat in a sailing Dory
With a lug rigged dory, is it practical to switch between the sliding seat rowing unit and a sailing configuration while underway? I assume the rowing unit would have to be broken down and stowed out of the way while sailing.

There is not much "out of the way" to be had on the dory so I would say that sailing and a sliding seat rowing unit would be mutually exclsive while under way. Even if the unit folded up fairly well it would be annoying to work around while sailing and the best use for the sailing rig while rowing would be to rig some kind of awning which, when you think about it, might not be a bad idea.
