Finished my Tandem Annapolis Wherry
My hobby for the last nine months has been building this Tandem Annapolis Wherry in the photo below.
It arrived in the spring. Opened the boxes in the fall. Worked all winter. Finished on Memorial Day. This was my first build, and took much more time than expected, but well worth it. An hour here or there did not make much of a dent in it. Eventually I shifted to 4 hour blocks from 7pm to 11pm nightly to get it done. A bluetooth speaker and cranking up the Tune-in radio app on the smart phone did the trick.
Regardless, it is finished now. The boat is great. It is surprisingly stable and rowers, both novice and expert, have been zooming happily up and down the river. It is very fast, much faster than our canoes, kayaks or electric boat. And it was new for me to row a boat that glides many times it's length compared to traditional rowboats that row in like they're in molasses.
The photo below show the 3 boys out for a row.
