Hello all,
I took a small cedar strip building class, 15 hours. My instructor told me he does not stain any of his boats because the stain shows all of the sanding swirl marks. He told me that he even went up to a very high grit. I am building the Micro bootlegger and would love to try to put a nice stain on the boat.
Has anyone ever ran into this problem before?
Is this true?
If I decide to stain what stain is a good stain to use?
Thanks for any feed back.

i have stained cedar strip kayaks before. i have not had the experience described. the stain has not made any sanding swirl marks show up more than not staining.
behlens alcohol-based stains.....you do not want any oil-based stains. they sell it on the clc website. it is compatible with epoxy
