I wonder why? Spars re-varnish darker in previously damaged areas
I recently sanded down my spars to bare wood, re-epoxied, and varnished. I noticed that areas where I had previously "dinged" the wood by dropping/bumping the spar turned out darker than the surrounding wood. Not a problem, certainly, but I'm curious if anybody knows the reason it looks like that. Maybe different reflectivity of light in that spot, or maybe the wood absorbed epoxy at a different rate in that spot and so looked darker?
