Mill Creek 16.5 nearing completion.

I am trying not to hurry, but trying to finish in time for the CLC demo show here in Sacramento.

Does this work to share pictures, or is the privacy setting on facebook messing it up?

O.K., so it only works if you have a facebook account.

I'll try to find a way to export all the photos to somewhere else to be able to share them.

Looks great! My father and I are working on one in my garage - we're a bit behind you, but also posting on facebook:

What's the final scheme? Painting the whole thing? Bright deck? Ours is the hybrid kit, so I'm planning to just varnish the deck (if/when we get that far) paint the interior white and the exterior hull dark blue.

Any major learnings on the way?

Darn it! You've taken my paint scheme!

Dark blue on the hull, bright varnished Okoume Mahogany deck.

I cut some corners and used marine grade fir ply for the hull. It's half the price, but seems a bit heavier. Since I planned to paint all along, I wan't worried about the look of the fir ply hull.

Major learnings

#1.  Dont rush sanding, take your time and be carefull.

#2. Before you glue something, be absolutely sure that it is where it is supposed to be.

( I glued my sheer clamps onto the wrong edge of my sheer panels. It made the bow and stern ends look funky and out of fair. I trimmed them up and now have a one of a kind.)

#3. Don't rush sanding. you can mess up a-lot of hard work very quickly/easily.

Yours looks like it is coming along great!

Plastic zip-ties work well inplace of the wire for stitching.

I see that by the looks of the "post-it's" labeling everything on your workbench that my wife must have got loose from her moorings and run amok.

I'll have to get a bigger anchor.

Looks like your boats will look great.

I am also building a MC 16.5 hybrid, and I also glued the sheer clamps the wrong way, even though the instructions said to make sure you don't do that.  I feel a lot better knowing I am not the only one.  I cut mine off with a handsaw (no fun) then trimmed it with a flush trim router bit.  Since the hull will be painted you won't be able to tell.

I was also thinking of the same paint scheme, maybe great minds just think alike.
