Has anyone increased the size of there Ch17 cockpit???
I am just installing my deck onto my CH 17 kayak and am thinking about increasing the cockpit size by 6 inches in order to make it safer and to have more foot/leg room. I am planning on using my kayak on a lake primarly for recreational use. Has anyone tried to do this and are there any performance problems with the kayak with a larger (38" vs 32") cockpit?
Thanks for any information since I am a new builder and have found lots of info from this forum.

Won't be a problem at all. Just add the 6" to the forward coaming, not the rear. Keep the rear bulkhead where it is as the paddler position shouldn't be moved.
