Yes it can be done with tape, but not easily. I used tape on my MC 16.5. At the tight curves I had to cut out little wedges on either side to get rid of the excess material. What was left kept wanting to pop up out of the epoxy so I had to stand by and press it down every so often until the epoxy cured enough to hold it. Once it was sanded out it all looked great. So now I learn I should have cut my own strips - something to add to the instructions gentlemen.
