Kayak Rack Storage
Someone recently observed that if all of the CLC boats that have been built were placed end to end, they would stretch for more than 45 miles. That’s a lot of boats, and many of you have more than one. That means that your garage is getting full. With more than 50 boats stored at the CLC factory in Annapolis, we’ve given a lot of thought to economical storage methods. Here are two of the systems we use.
Wall Racks - Arms cut out of 3/4” plywood hold kayaks close to the wall. You can stack as many as you have height. This works on the side of a house, too. Note the metal shelving rail screwed to the wall; padded arms are adjustable up and down.
Floor Racks - These much-admired CLC floor racks hold two kayaks. They are cut from 3/4" plywood, padded with fabric-covered pipe insulation, and they fold flat for storage. If you don’t have a CNC machine, experiment with cardboard patterns to get the slot-together effect just right before sawing out the parts with a saber saw.
