Eastport Pram Outwales - Typo in build manual?
I am building from plans and need clarification on the dimension cuts for the Outwales.
The material list on page 14 indicates "35 lineal feet of 1/2 x 3/4 solid Mahogany or similar (for Outwales")"
On page 19 under the heading Solid Wood Parts, the leading sentence reads:
"You will need to rip four 3/4" x 1" x 96" strips of wood for the rails"
I assume this is for the outwales, but the dimension is different than the materials list.
Having followed the directions and already ripped to 3/4 x 1", I believe that I would have a real challenge bending the strips to the curve of the hull in either 3/4" or 1" dimension.
I think that 1/2" x 3/4" is the dimension I should have ripped to. The 1/2 would bend a whole lot easier.
Better to be able to make the pieces smaller than to have buy another hunk of Mahogany.
