Installing pintles and gudgeons

I've temporarily installed the pintles and gudgeons on my Northeaster Dory, but I'm concerned about waterproofing the holes for the bolts. Should I drill oversize holes, pack them with peanut butter epoxy paste and then redrill them? For the moment I just have the holes drilled and the bolts installed tightly.
