Chesapeake 17 - stern fiberglass
i am preparing to lay the fiberglass on the hull and I'm not sure the proper way to fit it to the stern. The video isn't very complete other than to say to cut it and come back later to put on a reinforcing strip but for the initial "lay" do I make a cut and fold the two ends one over the other? That will result in a double or triple layer - does that just get sanded fair after the epoxy? Is there another technique? Thanks. Bruce

Bruce,
yes, for the stern of the chesapeake series you will need to make a cut and fold it over and then fair it all in when it has hardened. i think, at most, you would have a double layer. if you are neat when you cut it/set it up....it will sand out pretty easily.
the idea above from Yambo....is a reasonable alternate approach.

I put a vertical reinforcing strip on first and then just finished the main fibreglass on top of it. It sanded out OK.
