My Mill Creek is now seven years old, and I have sailed her a lot. When I built the sail rig I didn't want to make a hole in the foredeck for the mast, so I made a wooden birdmouth mast and fitted it in the forward point of the cockpit. As the mast is further aft than in the original design I opted for a sloop rig. (Hard to sail solo, but excellent for two people.) Here's some video from a recent trip:

RE: Mill Creek 16.5 sailing
A great bit of film. Nancy would have approved wholeheartedly of the sound track, although would have called you a tame galoot for hitting the rocks. Just starting my own mill creek 16.5 build, with the sail rig, but planning to go down the bermudan ketch route using solway dory sails. Hope to sail round wildcat island at some stage, but a lot of work to do first. You've added some inspiration, thank you.

A word of warning: the sea shanties used on the sound track are not exactly PC, so if you're offebded by rude words or misogyny you might want to turn the sound down.
