how did I fill the gudgeon screw holes?
Hi brilliant ones...I am revarnishing the varnished wood on my CLC NE Dory before we leave TX for the summer in Port Townsend.....been 4 years it's due. OK weird question...when I took the screws out of the transom for the gudgeon screw thru holes I found some kind of filler in the holes that fel like a malable, gooey silicone but I dont use silicone on boats. I'll be rebedding all hardware on the boat and havent re-bed any hardware in many years. Any thought on what I must have used in the gudgeon screw holes, or what do you recommend for hardware screw holes?
PS: I have some Big Stretch exterior caulk on hand if that works.
Thanks!
Curt
