I love my NE Dory. And i appreciate that it's not meant to have a motor. But I needed a way to get home with a foul wind / and or tide. Or to reach that distant fishing spot.
So I decided to put my Pocketship Torqeedo on the NE Dory as well. Seems to work well. 2 pieces of douglas fir shaped to the interior and the exterior contour of the top plank and through bolted with star knobs on the interior. Lined the inside of each with rubber gasket material.
Aluminum bracket holding the motor mount. With the extended battery cable, the only weight on the bracket is the motor itself. Not much weight.
The dagger board and rudder are needed for tracking and steerage.
It's not compatible with sailing unless demounted.
Cant figure out how to put images into this post.

Cool! I'd love to see pics. I've often thought about this but she rows so nice! Figure I'll just build something else when the time comes. You can never have too many boats projects, right?
