Hello,
This is my first build. I am building a Chesapeake 17LT. I am planning to have a bright finish. Attached are a couple of photos of the bottom puzzle joints after scraping and sanding. Is this what they should look like at this stage? Will these be visible in the final product? Or have already created a Viking funeral?
Thanks!
Mike

Hi Az Mike,
no viking funeral. this looks just fine.
when the entire panel gets epoxied, these blotches will 'disappear'. what you are seeing is the difference between plain okoume plywood and epoxy coated plywood.
i think it looks pretty good at this point :)
i have a lot of confidence that you are going to get through the process with a great looking, boat.
fwiw, the 17LT is a great first kayak. i built three of them over the years. i didn't do one bright, but here's one in red
interestingly, while i was out paddling today, i did bump into somebody paddling a bright 17LT, and it looked beautiful.
