Free Great Pelican plans

Hello builders, I have one set of plans that I bought from Bill Short back in the last century along with a magazine with an article . Also included are plans for the original Pelican. Although I never built the boat I am loathe to toss the plans in the recycling bin. I will send them for the cost of mailing + a large envelope which comes to $7 . If you're interested you can email me at :  [email protected].  If I don't respond the plans are no longer availble.

Although the boat was built using screw and glue I think that there wouldn't be a problem building it with stitch and tape.

Hello sandtrix!

It sounds like you have some valuable plans from Bill Short, along with the original Pelican design. It's great that you want to pass them along instead of recycling them! Stitch and tape construction can indeed be a viable alternative to screw and glue methods, often providing a simpler and lighter build process.

For anyone interested in those plans, it’s a fantastic opportunity to snag some classic designs. If you haven't received a response, it might be worth sending a follow-up email to check the status.

Thanks for sharing, and happy building to everyone who takes on this project!

The stitch-and-tape method should work well, especially since it's commonly used for small boat construction and Mapquest Directions doesn't require the same type of framing as screw-and-glue builds. You can simply use the existing plans as guides for adjusting the stitching and gluing points.
