Boatbuilders should cast off the winter blues, or snowshoes, or whatever, and head for the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin. In that giant heated space, you'll find Canoecopia, one of the world's biggest and best canoe and kayak shows. It's always one of our favorite shows of the year, with lots of good boat vibes & presentations.
Alas, CLC will not have an official booth this year.
You should still attend, as our friends Nick Schade of Guillemot Kayaks and Bob Emser of The Art of Boat Building WILL be there. Nick is speaking and Bob will have a small collection of stitch-and-glue and strip planked kayaks on display.
Reasons to visit Canoecopia this year:
• Master kayak designer/builder/paddler Nick Schade will be on hand to talk about his Guillemot line of boats.
• The Art of Boat Building's Bob Emser will be on hand to answering questions.
• Nick will be working at building a boat in the booth. He is also scheduled for a presentation on Sea Kayaking Maine's "Bold Coast" at the event on the main floor, Sunday from 2:30-3:15pm.
Our tentative boat list:
• Petrel Play SG
• Petrel Play (strip-planked)
• Wood Duck 12
• Io Child's Kayak
