SURF. ART. MUSIC.
Celebrating 100 Years of Hollow Wooden Surfboards
CLC is heading to York, Maine, for Surf Re-Evolution, a celebration of surf culture centered around the art and craft of DIY surfboard building.
Hosted by our longtime friends at Grain Surfboards, the event brings together surfers, board builders, craftspeople, and designers for a day of DIY surfboard building, demonstrations, workshops, art, music, food, and, of course, surfing. This year also marks 100 years of hollow wooden surfboards.
CLC and Grain have been friends and have worked together over the years, with plenty of common ground between wooden surfboards and wooden boats: good design, working with your hands, and the satisfaction of building something yourself.
We’ll have a CLC Teardrop Camper, Kaholo Stand-Up Paddleboard, and Wood Duck kayak on display. It’s a chance to see all three in person, take a closer look at how they’re built, and talk with us about CLC kits, plans, and classes. If you’re in New England, come spend the day with us at Grain Surfboards in York.
Surf Re-Evolution is about socially responsible, values-based businesses modeling a new way of doing business. It emphasizes longevity over planned obsolescence, sustainability over passing on environmental costs, and creating community around concepts rather than profiting from a broken system. Each year in our hometown of York, ME, we gather like-minded individuals and invite special guests who exemplify this idea, whether through re-evolving materials, design, sustainability, or a DIY attitude. We come together to eat, drink, surf, contemplate art and ideas, and celebrate our commitment to re-evolve ourselves and the world we live and work in.
