Immerse yourself in boatbuilding at our Annapolis shop, where hands-on learning meets expert guidance. Led by longtime CLC boatbuilder Andrew Schroeher, these private classes are designed for individuals or small groups seeking a unique, meaningful experience—whether for personal enrichment, family bonding, or to create a custom boat that you will cherish for years to come.
The Experience
• Hands-On Craftsmanship since 1994: Learn the essential skills and techniques of boatbuilding under expert guidance, in our heated and air-conditioned Annapolis boatbuilding shop.
• Tailored to Each Student: Classes are customized for individual goals. Students may build several small boats, such as kayaks, or collaborate on a single larger boat as a team. Private classes offer the flexibility for customization not available in our standard courses, tailored to each student’s goals and ambitions.
• Family & Friends: Classes are ideal for shared experiences. Create lasting memories while working together on a meaningful project.
• Timeless Results: Boats built in our classes are meant to last. They'll become cherished heirlooms, to be enjoyed for generations.
Class Details
• Duration: Typically 5.5 days (Monday–Saturday)
• Class Size: Up to 4 students, working on similar types of boats (for example, kayaks). More students can join a private class to build larger projects, such as a Gislinge Boat.
• Custom Projects or Longer Sessions: Build a larger boat, such as a Jimmy Skiff. More complex projects might last two weeks.
• Location: Our shop is located in Annapolis, Maryland, a beautiful Colonial maritime town. Annapolis, along with CLC's classroom, showroom, and production shops, is an inspiring backdrop for a hands-on learning environment. Learn more about Annapolis here.
