Straight Tiller for the Skerry - Any Advice?
The finish line is in sight with my Skerry, and am about to finish up the rudder and am toying with the idea of just a straight tiller rather than using the yoke arrangement, or at least making the yoke removable to switch it out. Any advice? Having not sailed the Skerry with this arrangement, I'm wondering if I'm just asking for trouble.
Thanks.
Matt

Thanks, just what I needed to stay put. Your reasoning also reminded me about having the room to add a jack staff back there one day, too.
Thanks!

My advice is to stick with the yoke. There will probably come a time when someone wants to (or should be) sitting on the aft thwart while you sail. The yoke tiller makes that possible. And there is no down side. After a while you will get comfortable with yoke tiller steering.
