I am about to wrap up refinishing a Peeler Skiff (with console/remote steering) that I purchased without a motor. I feel torn between a new Tohatsu 15 HP and an Elco 14 HP equivalent electric outboard.  Neither option is cheap, but the Elco with batteries would be about 5k more than the Tohatsu fully installed. The weight of the Tohatsu setup would be roughly 180 pounds whereas the total weight of the Elco with batteries would be 235 pounds or so.

Does anyone have experience with an electric outboard on the Peeler?
