Chesapeake Light Craft has partnered with Angus Rowboats to manufacture and ship kits for their designs from our shop in Annapolis, Maryland. Builders will purchase the plans directly from Angus Rowboats, while kits for these designs are ordered through CLC.

Performance, Speed, and a Cabin!

The Angus RowCruiser offers dry sleeping accommodations for one person without sacrificing performance. This boat moves at about the same speed as a sea kayak, and can handle rough waters.

The Angus RowCruiser makes multi-day excursions extremely simple; drop the anchor and retire into the comfortable cabin when you’re tired. The watertight design protects the occupant from the heaviest of wind and rain, while an over-sized hatch vent provides plenty of ventilation and keeps condensation at bay.

Sailing Conversions!

A popular option for the Angus RowCruiser is the addition of planing amas (outriggers) and a cat-ketch rig. Thus rigged, the trimaran setup can touch 11 or 12 knots in a burst. Yet, even with the sailing rig in place, the crew can row at four knots for hours on end if the wind doesn't suit.

RowCruisers equipped for sailing have done well in just about every coastal adventure race, including the Race to Alaska and the Everglades Challenge.

Better than Camping

For those serious about camping on the water, this is an improvement over an open boat's tent. When the wind picks up, a tent becomes a sail, and its flogging is a prescription for a wet and sleepless night. The Angus RowCruiser, on the other hand, puts a hard top between you and the weather. Many of the camp-cruiser tent designs we've seen have to be rigged ashore. The RowCruiser cabin provides dry space to store gear, and most importantly, the decking adds a great deal to the RowCruiser's seaworthiness. Elegant Design

This boat is shaped to optimize performance, seaworthiness, and comfort. The multi-chined hull is capped by a proper wineglass transom. The cockpit accommodates a standard sliding seat rowing rig.

Angus provides sliding-seat/rigger kits suitable for the RowCruiser. This design can also be rowed from a fixed seat. Instructions for installing the sliding seat are provided.
