Overview
Experienced builders may add this package to the stock plans to build the Northeaster Dory over a mold, rather than stitch-and-glue style. This allows glued-lap construction in plywood, or even riveted solid planking.
Adding this option to the stock plans package gives you a mold diagram, plus full-sized patterns for the molds, stem, and transom. These drawings are intended to function as an appendix to the standard plans and manual, which you will still need for interior fit-out, proper thwart placement, sailing rig, and other details. These additional drawings allow advanced builders to construct the hull shell using traditional methods, but are not stand-alone plans for the Northeaster Dory.
The Northeaster Dory manual does not include step-by-step instructions for this style of construction. Again, skilled traditional boatbuilders will grok this option, but beginning-to-intermediate builders should steer clear.
