Overview
A popular option for the Angus RowCruiser is the addition of planing amas (outriggers) and a cat-ketch rig. Thus rigged, the trimaran setup can touch 11 or 12 knots in a burst. Yet, even with the sailing rig in place, the crew can row at four knots for hours on end if the wind doesn't suit.
RowCruisers equipped for sailing have done well in just about every coastal adventure race, including the Race to Alaska and the Everglades Challenge.
The Angus RowCruiser Sail Option Parts Kit INCLUDES: the major structural assemblies: the amas (outriggers), the rudder, and the centerboard and centerboard trunk. See the complete list below.
Items that are NOT INCLUDED: spars (mast & boom), sails, rigging hardware, lines, aka timber material. At this time, these items will be purchased from Angus Rowboats directly, or sourced locally.
Plans are required for building this kit. Sail Option plans must be purchased directly from Angus Rowing's digital plans page.
Kit Contents:
- CNC-cut marine pywood hull panels, bulkheads and decks for the amas from BS1088 okoume marine plywood
- CNC-cut daggerboard and trunk parts
- CNC-cut aka mounting brackets
- Timber parts for sheer clamps, cleats, spacers, and stringers
- Fiberglass cloth to build the amas, reinforce Rowcruiser deck and foils
- Daggerboard, daggerboard trunk assembly
- Kick up rudder and yoke
- Rudder gudgeons and pintles
