We know a thing or two about transporting boats. Over the last 30 years, the CLC caravan has crisscrossed the country many times to attend boat shows, hauling as many as 20 boats in and on our rig.
The right type of straps can make securing a boat simple and safe. These straps with metal cam-buckles and protective pads are the type we have been using here at CLC for over 30 years. The 12' straps are ideal for kayaks and small canoes. Larger boats such as dories, dinghy and wherries will require the 15' straps. Both sizes are sold in pairs.
A must for transporting your small boats on the roof rack or on your Trailex Trailer. Also great for hauling surfboards, paddleboards, your new boat kit box home from the CLC shop, plywood, and lumber. These are also handy around the shop.
Be safe & protect your boat! It never hurts to use an extra strap or two, especially on long drips or when strapping a lightweight boat to a bouncy trailer. Always tie off and secure your loose strap ends. Long boats should have a bow and stern tiedown, secured to the front and back of the vehicle.
Kayaker and Paddleboarders can find our roof rack pads here.
Forget about ratchet straps with hooks! They are inappropriate for transporting small wooden boats, especially when hauling on a rooftop rack.
