I would suggest going by the descriptions of those who have built and paddled it. It's awfully appealing to build something that is conceptually simple.."few pieces to misalign"
From what I've heard getting those two pieces to align at the ends isn't easy.
If wood kayaks built out of two panels were optimum for the intended use, paddling, you'd see a lot more out there.
