Interesting. The description of the Severn would seem to imply that it is of a mild disposition. "once lauched, it displays reassuring stability and requires almost no effort to paddle", according to the author. Perhaps it is only stable compared to other non-chined hulls. I really like the idea of few pieces to mis-align, too.
Because I cannot buy 3mm without inspecting it first, I'm probably going to return to plan B (a shortened Great Auk strip) or add a plan D (find a < 16ft, hard chined 4mm S&G).
