i was lucky enough to receive a Pax 18 kit boat that someone started over a decade ago. I was chosen since I'm the right size for it and I have built a wood strip canoe a couple of years ago. The hull is done and just needs a final coat of the graphite epoxy. I have just assembled the decks. My question is should I do the final coat on the hill before or after installing the decks? I do plan on keeping the decks natural wood finished.

RE: Pax18 construction
Thanks for the reply. The hull is done in graphite black on the outside and wood tone inside. All is water tight. The hull as it is now is sanded and needs a final coat. I have decided to put decks on and glass them before final hull coat

not sure i understand the question.
that said, if you have not put the deck on, the only 'final coat' you need to be really focused on is on ensuring the inside of the hull is epoxy coated/water-proof as you you won't be able to reach it effectively with the deck on.
everything else can be done after the deck is attached.
