Paddling to the WoodenBoat Show

I put my WD12 in at the public kayak landing by the I-95 bridge and headed upriver along the lightly-developed tidal portion of the Mystic River.

After browsing the nature show, I turned downriver to head for the museum and show.

Strange and wonderful creatures greeted me.

Up ahead the museum appeared.

The Mystic Seaport waterfront.

And a familiar booth from an unfamiliar angle. That's Nick Schade doing his stripping exhibition. Many women (and a few guys) were disappointed to find out that he was just building a boat.

Finally, at the end of the museum, a strange place to keep a very large vessel.

Meanwhile, back at the booth, John tells all about fillets.

Unfortunately, thanks to Henri wanting to see some cool wooden boats, I had to leave the very next day. I was staying at a local campground in my Teardrop camper and I had no wish to see if a streamlined wooden box would take me all the way to Oz.

A lovely tale well told, there, Lazslo.  Thanks for the telling of it.

Splendid photo of the rare Pneumatic Narwal!
