Overview
Whether you build your Sassafras 16 Canoe in your own shop or in one of our classes, you'll want to protect your finish.
This custom-fit Sun-DURA® khaki cover is made specifically for the Sassafras 16 and is ideal for long-term protection. The sock-style cover slides over one end of the canoe and zips closed along the side, providing full protection from the elements and critters.
Sun-DURA® is a 100% solution-dyed, 7.6 oz. marine-grade polyester fabric with a 600 x 600 denier weave. Because the color is part of the polyester fiber itself, it won’t simply wear away from the surface. A 100% polyurethane coating provides excellent resistance to UV, mildew, and rot, as well as protection against sun and water damage. The fabric is also cold-crack-resistant and breathable, allowing moisture to escape from beneath the cover.
Storage Notes: If storing your boat outdoors, keep it upside down on a rack or sawhorses to prevent rain and snow from collecting in the cockpit. In damp climates, we recommend adding one or two optional vents to improve airflow and allow moisture to escape.
