I Built My Own Pirate Dinghy From a Kit - Then Took It Sailing

I Built My Own Pirate Dinghy From a Kit - Then Took It Sailing

Quantum Relics Workshop built a Jack Sparrow dinghy from a Chesapeake Light Craft kit, navigating the challenges of stitch-and-glue construction, epoxy application, and custom modifications. The project involved sanding, staining, and even some creative problem-solving. Will the DIY pirate vessel be seaworthy?

The boat is a Northeaster Dory inside its piratical disguise. Says builder Omer K., "I’ve been looking at the kit for more than 10 years and finally pulled the trigger on it! It was quite exciting to build and the instructions were great for someone like me with no prior boat building experience. I chose to finish it in a pirate aesthetic to appease my childhood dreams."
