As it turns out, the question of 3mm vs 4mm is made moot by my wife (for whom I am making this) who is demanding that I keep it as light as possible. Anyway, it appears to be unanimous that 3mm must be used for the curves. Thank you.

My thought about the bulkhead curves was that the deck curve would be significantly different at 4' from center than it is 1' from the center. Looking at Dave Houser's Yare, it seems that the curve is fairly consistent so I can probably copy the curve from the deck beam.
